A Breakdown of the “Custom” Store Tab
A few weeks ago, I put together a listing for “The Book of Knowledge Annual” series. This listing is part of my new “custom” page for journal listings. My goal with this is to make it easier for you guys to understand when my commissions are open, what covers I have in stock and what the customization options actually are!
The photos for the listing will be the front and back cover of the journal and the inside cover. I take photos of the book covers after I have already taken the paper out of it and cleaned it. In a lot of cases these are old books so it’s not always possible for me to get all the stains out! I can only do so much without damaging the cover.
Some of the covers that I get are damaged (small holes, spine falling apart), depending on how severe the damage is I will fix it before I take photos. But in cases where the damage is less severe, I will fix it as I work on it. So, if you notice damage on the cover and are concerned just let me know when we get in contact!
The cost of paper plus its shipping will be paid by the purchaser. The paper options will vary from listing to listing but the main options are plain, line grid, lined and drawing paper. “The Book of Knowledge” journals are between 300-400 pages. Because of the volume needed and previously having issues with the paper not flattening properly, I’ve decided to not add the option to use second-hand paper. But in smaller journals secondhand paper will be available!! I do my best to find affordable paper for journals, but it really depends on how much paper is needed and the thickness of the paper.
On each listing I have a very long spiel of the physical specifications, shipping, process of communication between the purchaser and myself and, details about payment. The main thing is that no matter what, the base price of $35 will have to be paid before I can start work on the journal. My base price covers labor, time and the cost of miscellaneous supplies (glue, fabric etc.). And as I stated before, the cost and shipping of whatever paper you choose will be paid by you! the cost of the paper is not included in the base price.
Now that we are past the important and serious stuff, I am very excited for these listings to be set up fully and I hope it lets me do more commissions. Seeing you guys happy (with your very cool new journals) makes me so happy.
